You’ve probably heard that “all skills are green skills,” and, as someone who may not be working in a climate-related field or even within sustainability at your company, you might be wondering, “How is what I’m doing a “green skill”? Am I doing climate work?”

Climate work is work in which the role and its purpose supports climate solutions recognised by climate experts.
</aside>
This definition of climate work can be attributed to think about jobs as “climate jobs!”
If your company is focused around a particular solution, your role supports the organisation as a whole, and therefore, supports that climate solution. Your job = climate job! 🌿
✅ Accounting at a wind energy company = climate work
✅ People operations at a battery energy storage company = climate work
✅ Project management at a smart farming company = climate work
What if your organisation isn’t focused on a climate solution? Can your work still be climate work? Yes! You just have to integrate climate work into your role instead of walking into one that’s tailor-made to support climate solutions.
