Our evergreen themes:

  1. Enable the organization’s leadership and teams to measure their progress and make strategic data-informed decisions - a.k.a. to deliver actionable insights.
  2. Increase our impact by increasing data adoption through improved availability and accessibility of business-critical data, reducing the volunteer cold-start and empowering those curious to explore and ask more questions.
  3. Future-proof what and how we build (e.g. infrastructure, team and processes) to ensure we’re laying appropriate foundations for a robust data strategy for the organization

2024 Q2

Taken from higher level org OKRs for Q2 (as the basis for our objectives)

  1. Org objective for metrics and data team to own: Audit Tableau for what data is needed by teams, finish migrating needed Tableau data to LookerStudio by EoQ.
    1. KR: Identify actionable metrics in pre-existing Tableau dashboards through collaboration with key stakeholders
      1. @Inbal Nachman @Felix Nguyen-Dalton to direct us to teams/leads to coordinate with
      2. @Siri Mrudula to make a list of production dashboards for us to ask stakeholders about (and note what’s already migrated to LDS)
    2. KR: Migrate and ‘leave it better’ for selected metrics/dashboards, giving them a new home in Looker Data Studio (accessible to all WoCl volunteers and tagged to team pages)
      1. Keep what’s good, enhance what’s valuable, get rid of noise
    3. KR: Back-end updates to support the migration
      1. Audit/fix/retire data flows in the metrics repo: Only maintain useful flows
      2. Move transformations from JS metrics code to dbt (end state: JS code is used only for ingestion of useful data)
      3. Move complex SQL from Tableau/LDS to dbt
      4. Get dbt working for everyone: Analysts able to contribute code, docs auto-generated and under source control
  2. Objective: Fill key vacancies / roles on the team:
