We love to see WoCl energy at local meetups!

How to join a meetup:

  1. Open the Slack channel browser
  2. Search for the city's name where you want to meet fellow WoCl community members.
  3. Join the channel and read the last entries to learn if a meetup is planned or about past meetups.

How to set up a meetup:

Congratulations. Thanks for your fantastic initiative to get involved and set up a meetup.

  1. Open the slack channel browser and check if a channel with the name #meet-CITY_NAME (english spelling) already exists. If so: join, if not: request the channel is created in #community-meta.

  2. Add other WoCl members from your city to the channel. You can search #introductions for the city's name to find members.

  3. Think about your goal for the meetup you are planning. For the first three meetups in Berlin, our goal was networking and getting to know the community. From there, we thought more about education and what speakers to invite.

  4. Find a place where you can host the meetup. The following ideas might help:

    1. A coffee or restaurant with big tables where the background noise is not too high.
    2. A local coworking space focusing on impact who lets you use their rooms.
    3. A local company working on the climate crisis who hosts you (and might be willing to pay for drinks)
  5. Find a date

    1. Suggestion: Offer 2-4 possible dates and let the community members in your channel vote which one works for them:

  6. Get an account on lu.ma and set up a new event.

    1. For the header image you can use this template.
    2. Example: https://lu.ma/wocl-lisbon-2201
  7. Share the event with the community.

    1. Optional: Encourage members to share the event in other communities.
  8. For the event:

    1. Be there in time (best 30 min before everyone else)
    2. Welcome everyone who arrives and explain the organizational terms: E.g: pay for your drinks before you leave, where the bathrooms are
    3. Take photos and post them in slack.
